7th World Video Festival of Bronchology and Esophagology

The organizers of the 16th World Congress for Bronchology (WCB) and Bronchoesophagology (WCBE), June 13-16, 2010, Budapest, Hungary are pleased to announce the 7th world festival and contest for video films on bronchology, bronchoesophagology and related subjects.

Digital Video Disks (DVDs) will be demonstrated to participants attending the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE. The rules of video film contest are as follows:

1. General Information

DVDs on laryngology, tracheobronchial and esophageal procedures as well as thoracoscopy will be eligible. Preference will be given to presentations that reflect the "state of the art update" in the above topics. All specialties in medicine and surgery, both pediatric and adult, are welcome to submit DVDs. Membership in WAB or other organizations is not a requirement (prerequisite) to compete in video festival. However, it is an absolute requirement that the presenters of DVDs and the viewing audience are registered participants of the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE. Entries per participant are not limited.

2. Format of videos

Create a video that is maximum 12 minutes in length. Any presentations with timeout (12 minutes) will be strictly disqualified. The written text of the video must be supplied. The language of the films and their narration texts must be exclusively English. Commercial messages are not permitted.

Two separate DVDs (DVD-R and +R) required, containing files with ".avi", ".mov", or ".mpeg" extensions, aspect ratio: 4:3 or 16:9, editing (or exporting): PAL. All DVDs must be labeled with the author(s) names and the title of the video presentation.

3. Jury

Selection of the best videos for the prizes will be done by a jury of 5 members composed:
- President of 16thWCB & 16thWCBE or his representative
- Chair of the Video Festival and Contest,
- 3 members designated by the Organization Committee of 16thWCB & 16thWCBE.

People who have a legal link with the Jury are eligible to enter, but are not eligible to win a prize.

4. Submission of DVDs

The author/s must have a registration and an abstract, both submitted on-line through www.wcbwcbe2010.org and confirmed by the Congress Secretariat. Every DVD must be accompanied by:
(1) a copy of completed entry form, and
(2) the narration manuscript in English

These two documents must arrive in the Secretariat of the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE by April 1, 2010. Forwarding costs to and from the Congress are the responsibility of the sender.

Special labels indicating the title of the presentation, author's name, and address must be attached to (a) the DVD container, (b) the outside of DVDs, and (c) the entire package. The labels should be placed inside the container.

5. Liability

The organizing committee of the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE will try its best to maintain the mailed-in DVDs in good and safe condition. The DVDs will be returned to the owners at the end of the congress. The 16thWCB & 16thWCBE cannot be held responsible for the loss of or damage to the DVDs while in transit. To be safe, owners of the DVDs are strongly advised to maintain a good copy of the mailed DVDs in their files. Applicable insurance and other details are the responsibility of the physicians submitting the DVDs.

6. Data privacy

Participants agree that personal data, especially name and address, may be processed, stored and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the contest and any other purposes outlined in these Official Rules. The data may also be used by the bodies of 16thWCB & 16thWCBE in order to check participants' identity, their postal address and telephone number, or to otherwise verify their eligibility to participate in the contest and to receive any prize. If participant's data is not provided or is cancelled, participants' entries will be ineligible.

7. Presentation

The top 3 video films will be evaluated separately and judged for awards, i.e. "first", "second" and "third" prizes. The jury may grant special award(s).

A specific medal designated for the contest will be awarded to the winners.

The Jury's evaluation will be announced and three of the best video films will be presented after the opening ceremony of the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE on June 14, 2010. All video films will be shown during the congress time in a separate auditorium. A separate prize based on the audience's evaluation will be presented at the closing ceremony on June 16, 2010.

8. Copyright

The author/s will retain copyrights to their video films. The summary of the video films will be published in the program abstract book to be distributed to the registered participants of the 16thWCB & 16thWCBE. All participants in the video festival, particularly the award winners, are requested to kindly donate a copy of their DVD to the organizing committee.

9. Deadlines

a.) All two documents listed in item 4 above must arrive in the Secretariat by » April 01, 2010
b.) The registered DVDs must arrive in the Secretariat by » May 01, 2010
